What Is The reNEW Collection, by Balsam Hill?
Every tree in the Balsam Hill reNEW collection is crafted with True Needle® technology made with recycled or plant-based plastic. We’re working toward new and more sustainable artificial Christmas trees each year, with plans to increase recycled content or introduce plant-based plastic across many of our trees and transition to recycled steel.

Made With Recycled Plastic
Some trees in the reNEW Collection feature True Needle® technology made with 30% post-consumer recycled polyethylene, GRS certified to verify the source of its recycled content. This recycled polyethylene is sourced from tear-away caps on large five-gallon home or office water bottles. The other 70% is made from traditional polyethylene (PE). Over time, we will increase recycled content to 50% and beyond.
Made With Plant-based Plastic
Some trees from the reNEW Collection focus on True Needle® technology made from polyethylene derived from sugarcane, an annually renewable plant-based resource manufactured by Braskem, our partner in sustainable materials. Made in Brazil, this bio-based polyethylene has C14 certification with 95% bio-based carbon content. To reduce our shipping footprint, we’re working toward sourcing materials like this from places that are closer to our factories.
Lifelike and Durable
Every tree in the reNEW Collection provides the same design and production quality as our trademark trees—including our Balsam Fir, Vermont White Spruce and Silverado Slim, each now made with either recycled or plant-based plastic for its True Needle®. Decorate, display, and store them with Balsam Hill’s easy assembly and storage process—they’ll be the centerpiece of your holiday celebrations for years to come.
Recycle-ready Packaging
Balsam Hill’s reNEW Collection of artificial Christmas trees are shipped to you in recycle-ready corrugated cardboard boxes, with paper—not plastic—tape on the outside edges and less single-use plastic packaging inside the box.
